For years I focused on the numbers; was the scale moving? Was all my food tracked? Did I look different in the mirror?

I wanted that instant gratification that many of you do as well but the worst feeling is when I got to my goal and lost it before I even had a chance to really enjoy it..... every.....single....time. 😒
So what changed?

Well I decided to start focusing on more important things in life and that made me realize that, unless you have elite physique or strength goals, weightloss doesn't have to be super hard and take lots of sacrifices. It can be accomplished by slowly making better and healthier choices over time. ALL WHILE focusing on each and every victory. By focusing on quality food first and quantity a close second. A powerful step in the right direction mentally is more important to me than seeing a pound drop on the scale. A good choice I made in an environment that previously made me anxious is way more important than my waist line.

Look, your progress will come but the DIFFERENCE is this time you'll be able to enjoy it if you appreciate the important things and build a positive place around food and your choices. These choices will build confidence and confidence will allow you to achieve lifetime weightloss, not just quick weightloss.

dietdifferent 10 year difference 30 vs 40:

Instead of drinking 1-2 glasses of wine with dinner 5-7 days a week, I drink 5-7 times a year...sometimes less.

I am way stronger than I ever thought I would be. I found my passion for powerlifting and competing. Learning that nutrition was key I finally stopped torturing myself with cardio machines and running. I do what I love.

Healthy relationship with food. I eat the foods I love and don’t feel guilty about it.  This includes ice cream, chocolate chip cookies and sushi! 
I always have a plan. I am no longer confused and desperate after a bad day, bad weekend or vacation.  No starving myself with -1200 calories and pushing myself in the gym to make up for it. No more fad diets. 
@strongeru isn’t a diet, it isn’t a quick fix, it’s a life style that I choose to live. I learned about where I was going wrong and how to make improvements with my eating, sleep, hydration, and lifting. I make choices not excuses. With these better habits and behaviors it allowed me to not only maintain my progress but continue my journey being better than yesterday. This is 40.

dietdifferent This has been my dinner almost every night for the last two weeks... After several failed attempts at making a #dutchbaby since I think it’s supposed to be thinner and less eggy I have decided that why fix something that doesn’t need fixing? This thing is freaking amazing! 
It’s easy to make, 30 grams of protein, low fat and carbs are what you make it, it tastes delicious and I look forward to eating this for dinner every night! 
I have two variations, I either make with almond extract and warmed mixed berries (previously frozen) or lemon extract, poppy seeds and warmed blueberries or blueberries and raspberries.
Recipe:
Heat oven 400 and put an 8inch cast iron pan to heat.
In a blender: 
1 egg
6-9 tbsp of egg whites
120ml of Fairlife non fat milk
1/2 cup of flour
5 grams of butter 
Almond exact and nutmeg or lemon extract and poppy seeds

Blend for like 30-60 secs. 
WITH an oven mitt, slide out pan so you can put 5-10 grams of butter to melt then pour in your mixture. bake for like 20 mins or until golden brown. 
Lemon poppy: C: 65 F: 11 P:30

Are you hesitant to try flexible dieting or think it isn't sustainable? For a lot of my clients, the practice of tracking macros and weighing foods isn't intended to be a permanant behavior, but a temporary tool meant to facilitate permanant behavior change. Most of my clients don't "track forever" unless they simply want to do so. Throughout our partnership, we work on building behaviors that can be continued and maintained even after we are at a good stopping point with weighing food items. The problem is that a lot of people who see success with macros and flexible dieting attribute their success to the macros, when that's only one small part of their success. Tracking macros and weighing food helps us learn portion sizes and the nutrition breakdown of foods we eat, as well as helping us learn food freedom and how to responsibly include all of our favorite foods in appropriate portions as part of a balanced, enjoyable diet. Once you master the lessons that macros are intended to provide, it decreases the need to continue to utilize that tool. Kind of like how you only need a Spanish translation tool until you've learned Spanish; once learned, you can continue to speak it without assistance. However, if you lose practice at any point you can whip your Spanish book back out until it feels natural again!

Maybe this verges on a little woo, bit also works. What you were using to gauge success pre-'rona might not be applicable right now. You might not be hitting PR's with a barbell on your back with the gyms closed. You might not be losing a lb of fat a week, or gaining a half lb of muscle a month. Or maybe you are- if so, you can skip today's PSA.

Success might look like leaving the house, eating a vegetable, putting on pants, making a meal plan, getting the kids to play independently, going to bed before midnight, maintaining your weight, admitting to someone that you're struggling, asking for help.

I'm not here to celebrate or promote mediocrity. But I'm also going to be clear- if we treat ourselves like failures, that's exactly what we'll always be.

It is NOT all about the scale.  If you’re doing all the things and doing them correctly and the scale hasn’t moved YET, that does NOT mean that shit ain’t happening. 
Right here we have a difference of .8lbs on the scale in 3 weeks. Yep. That is less than 1 pound of loss in 21 days time. 
Often this “lack of results” is something that sends people into a spiral of negative thinking such as
🔸 “my body just hangs on to weight” 
or 🔸“I’ve tried everything and I just can’t lose weight “ 
or 🔸“screw it I may as well just eat whatever because I’m working my ass off and it’s not working anyway.” But look here! She’s clearly tighter. She also feels amazing, has lots more energy, her clothes are fitting better, and she’s much more comfortable in her skin. 
So, what kind of sense would it even make to be angry about the scale and give up? Ummm...none? Yeah. 0 sense at all! Yet people do this ALL the time. 
Focus has to come off of what’s NOT happening and onto what is. Usually there are a ton of really great other things happening when someone has decided to start taking better care of themselves: From more energy to better sleep to better health to being more organized to just the good feels that come along with knowing you’re doing your body right. 
THAT is the good stuff. That is what the weight loss journey is REALLY about. 
Keep focus there every day and eventually the scale will move. It just doesn’t happen over night and it mostly doesn’t happen the way you think it should. Let that be ok and keep doing what you’re doing. Nutrition... Exercise... Both can easily be helpful, and just as easily be harmful. Eating "clean" helped one person lose weight and better manage their hypertension, while it helped another hide their eating disorder. Tracking macros helped one person master the nutrition content of foods and learn what nutrition their body needed, but caused another person to skip holidays and social events with loved ones or lose touch with hunger/satiety cues. Running helped one person manage their anxiety and strengthen their lungs, while it caused another to have stress fractures and miss quality time with their loved ones. What works for one person can be another person's prison. Can you tell the difference? Can you identify when a certain behavior is a solution, or when it's a problem? What traditionally healthy habit have you found to be unhealthy for you personally?

Sweet blueberry, cheddar jalepeno, "everything but the bagel", spicy garlic... The possibilities are endless! I used the sourdough starter guide from @thekitchn to bring "Tina" to life, and also use their base recipe for flaky sourdough biscuits. It feels SO GOOD to create things with my own two hands and to challenge myself to learn something I always swore I couldn't/wouldn't do 🖤

My jaw nearly dropped on the floor when Sandy Allen sent me this pre run selfie this morning!!!!! . She said “going off to jog and grabbed a big oversized t-shirt to cover everything up but feel comfortable enough to just wear a tank top out!” . . “The baby bump is cute until after delivery... I cringe at the 1 week post-op c section / postpartum ‘before’ picture - no good lighting, slimming stance or clothes to hide behind. There’s 12 weeks & a 25lb difference between the pictures. I’m still 10lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, but so happy with my hard work. I have completed sessions with Stronger U in the past and they’ve never let me down. I had the most encouraging coach this round Karina Verespy. She worked with me through every obstacle I encountered. I didn’t get to work out the first month due to the c section. And I only got 3 weeks of working Crossfit back into my routine before the pandemic hit. Now, I run 1+ mile a day, work with leg bands, and do abs almost everyday. Frozen broccoli, leftover chicken breast, sliced smoked venison sausage, and cheese. These are the kinds of "recipes" I make 90% of the time. They're boring and simple and filling. They take minimal effort. And yes, I eat like this regardless of COVID, which maybe helped me manage this situation better than some. Isolation food isn't a whole lot different than non-isolation food. Apple Cinnamon sourdough muffins get everyone's attention, but these are the meals that give me the freedom and flexibility to eat treats like that. I know it's easy to look at the previous "normal" with rose-tinted glasses, but most of us weren't super happy with "normal", either. We have the unique opportunity right now to decide what from our past wasn't serving us, what will stay gone, what new habits we'll continue, what from our past we want to include. Maybe those weekly HH with coworkers get the boot. It felt like an obligation but now you're surviving just fine without them. Maybe you'll keep up the occasional micro burst of at-home exercise, meditation, and yoga, and add in more frequent walks in the sunshine. And maybe you'll be first in the door at the gym when it opens back up. Maybe you'll keep cooking more at home, and instead of meeting friends out, you'll invite them IN. Maybe you've found a new love for homeschooling 😉 Either way, rather than living in the past, let's use this time to create an ideal future.

What is resilience? "Resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress — such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems, or workplace and financial stressors. As much as resilience involves "bouncing back" from these difficult experiences, it can also involve profound personal growth" Those people that you see handling adversity well? Who learn to pivot or change gears when needed? It isn't because they don't feel stress or negative emotions. It's because they have the resilience and realistic optimism to not let that stress or negative situation stop them from living. Some of them may have always been that way, but it is possible to build emotional resilience the same way you can build a muscle, and most people you know who simply *handle shit* got there from years and years of cultivating their own emotional resilience. For some of you lucky ones, this is the most traumatic thing you've ever experienced directly. Or maybe you leaned on another emotionally resilient person when faced with trauma in the past, so that you weren't forced to develop that skillset. Distracting yourself with productivity porn and new side hustles or hobbies isn't resilience, that's avoidance. And right now we need to be resilient because it's unlikely life will "go back to normal" anytime in the near future, if ever.

Semplicemente ho cotto il riso e ho aromatizzato l'acqua con zafferano, terminata la cottura non ho aggiunto burro ne formaggi ma ho aspettato che si raffreddasse per formare una pallina, al centro ho inserito un cubotto di asiago. Ho  impanato con albume  aromatizzato alla curcuma e pane grattuggiato con pepe. 
Cotto in forno ventilato !

30 ml di salsa di pomodoro
100 g di petto di tacchino
10 ml di olio extravergine

PROCEDIMENTO 
Preparate un trito di sedano,carota e scalogno e fate rosolare il petto di tacchino. Appena rosolato aggiungete l'acqua ,l.olio extravergine, la salsa di pomodoro e le spezie ( io ho aggiunto curcuma, pepe, maggiorana, salvia).
Fate bollire per un'oretta
Domani frullero' parte il petto di tacchino che tagliero' a cubetti e bolliro' all' interno la pastina :) #minestrina

Procedimento:
Distendere le fette di tacchino, posizionare a centro i cubotti di spinaci e creare l' involtino. Cuocere in padella antiaderente gli involtini, a metà cottura sfumare con aceto e aggiungere un pizzico di fecola di patate. 
Condire la lattuga con olio extravergine ( vi consiglio di utilizzare olio spray cosi da condire velocemente ma soprattutto permette di utilizzarne poco) e limone

🐟Tonno in scatola al naturale ma si può utilizzare anche sgombro, merluzzo ( adatto ai bambini che non mangiano pesce) 
Sale 
Pepe
Curcuma
Pan grattato 
Bollire le patate, schiacciarle e unire il tonno, il sale, pepe, curcuma. 
Formare i crocche' e passarli nel pan grattato, meglio quando sono ancora caldi cosi si attacca. Se sono diventati freddi utilizzare dell' acqua come collante. 
Riporli in forno a 180 gradi per 15 minuti.
